What is a repost banner?

Your TikTok profile has a Reposts tab next to your videos. It collects everything you have reposted, newest first, in the same three-column grid as your posts.

A repost banner uses that grid. Three posts each hold one piece of a split image. Repost them in the right order and the top row of your Reposts tab turns into one wide picture. You can change your look without posting anything to your own grid, which is why banner accounts that share pieces for reposting are so popular.

Repost right to left

The newest repost goes to the front of the row, so the right piece has to go first.

Repost the right piece first and the left piece last. TikTok shows the newest repost first, so the banner reads left to right.

How to set up your own repost banner

  1. Make the pieces

    Split your image above and save the three tiles. They are numbered 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and the 1st is the right piece.

  2. Post them from another account

    TikTok's Repost button works on other people's posts, so post the pieces from a second account, or send them to a friend or a banner account to post.

  3. Repost from your main account

    Repost the 1st piece, then the 2nd, then the 3rd. Open your Reposts tab and the banner should read left to right across the top.

Making banners for your followers

  • Post the pieces right to left. Post the 1st tile first and the 3rd last. The banner then looks right on your own profile too, which works as a preview for followers.
  • Say which piece to repost first. A caption like “repost this one first” on the right piece saves a lot of backwards banners.
  • Leave the bottom-left corner empty. The Reposts tab shows a small repost date there, and your own grid shows a view count in the same spot.
  • Keep sets together. Post a banner's three pieces one after another so followers can find all of them in a row.

Which piece do I repost first?
The right piece. Your Reposts tab shows the newest repost first, so repost the right piece, then the middle, then the left. The left piece ends up top-left and the banner reads the right way.
Can I repost my own posts?
TikTok's Repost button is for other people's videos, so the three pieces need to be posted by a different account. Most people use a small second account, a friend, or a banner account that shares pieces for reposting.
Why is my repost banner backwards?
The pieces were reposted left to right. Remove the three reposts (tap Repost again on each post) and repost them in the order right, middle, left.
Why did my banner move?
Anything you repost afterwards goes in front of it and pushes the banner along by one spot. Remove the extra repost, or redo the three banner reposts so they are the newest again.
What size should repost banner pieces be?
1080 × 1440 pixels each, so the whole banner is 3240 × 1440. That is the 3:4 shape of a thumbnail in the Reposts tab, so nothing gets trimmed.
Can I use a banner someone else made?
Only when the creator shares it for reposting, which is the whole point of banner accounts. Repost their original posts rather than uploading their artwork as your own, and credit them if you post a copy.
